Financial Centres

for Sustainability

Born out of Italy’s G7 Presidency in 2017 and established in mid-2018, the Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) is a global network of 44 financial centres. FC4S collaborates to achieve the ambitious objectives set by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.

Hosted by UNDP’s Sustainable Finance Hub, FC4S focuses on accelerating the growth of sustainable finance. The network empowers financial centres to assess the current state of sustainable finance, providing essential tools and insights to engage local institutions, inform policies, and drive market transformation towards sustainability.

FC4S delivers cutting-edge research on emerging sustainable finance issues, offers guidance on best practices, and provides strategic advice. Additionally, the network supports project development and delivers comprehensive support services through various initiatives. By equipping financial centres with the necessary resources, FC4S aims to enhance the global expansion of sustainable finance, aligning efforts with the SDGs and the Paris Agreement, playing a crucial role in the implementation of Integrated National Financing Strategies and facilitating Country Platforms to promote sustainable investment and policy alignment.
